The Mississippi
Valley Morgan Horse Club was founded in 1958 by a small group of dedicated
Morgan owners, making it one of the oldest Morgan Horse Clubs in the
country. Over the years many states have been represented in the club,
including families from as far away as Alaska, California, Wyoming, and
Florida. Primarily the Club has members in the states surrounding the
Mississippi River such as Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Currently
the Clubs is made up of well over 135 families that altogether own more than
300 Morgans. Some of the Club's
breeders have been in the business for over 100 years. The Club has been named AMHA Club of the Year in 1995, 1997, 1998,
2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006. This is due entirely to the hard
work and dedication of a great majority of the membership. Part of the Club's
strength lies in its diversity. Club members participate in a wide range of
activities from Historical demonstrations to show rings to trail rides and to
parades.
In March of 2007, MVMHC held its 17th Annual Morgan Horse Spring Sale. In
2008, MVMHC put on several successful Historical presentations throughout
Central Illinois. It held 3 horse shows. The Club hosted its annual luncheon
following the Halter Classes of the Illinois Morgan Breeders Futurity at the
Illinois State Fair. At the luncheon, a college scholarship was awarded by the
Club to a deserving youth member. This all was made possible by all of the
members who pitched in where ever necessary. The members are all friendly and
whenever Club members get together, there's bound to be good fun, good laughs,
and most likely good food. |
