Welcome to the Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Clubs website. The objective of the Club is to encourage and promote the breeding and use of registered Morgans as a versatile pleasure horse and show horse; to standardize the requirements and specifications and to assure fair play for showing and judging; to exchange ideas on and promote knowledge of the Morgan horse; to cooperate with other organizations in working for the advancement of the Morgan breed.
The Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club was founded in 1958 by a small group of dedicated Morgan owners, making it one of the oldest Morgan Horse Clubs in the country. Over the years many states have been represented in the club, including families from as far away as Alaska, California, Wyoming, and Florida. Primarily the Club has members in the states surrounding the Mississippi River such as Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Currently the Clubs is made up of well over 135 families that altogether own more than 300 Morgans. Some of the Club's breeders have been in the business for over 100 years.
The Club has been named AMHA Club of the Year in 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001,
2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006. This is due entirely to the hard work and
dedication of a great majority of the membership. Part of the Club's strength lies in its diversity. Club members participate in a wide range of
activities from Historical
demonstrations to show rings to trail rides and to parades.
